Child Development Substitute Teacher Pool

DEFINITION:  Provides an educational  program  for  infants,  toddlers  and  preschool  children consistent with the Child Development program's philosophy and goals. Develops and maintains  an  educational  environment  conducive  to  effective  learning  within  the limits of resources provided by the Child Development Program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Per Grantee Instructional Memo (GIM) 1302.90-94_(17)v13

1. Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher or appropriate California credential authorizing service as a preschool teacher or supervisory permit.

QUALIFICATIONS: Desirable:

1. Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field.
2. Previous successful teaching experience with preschool and/.or infant/toddler students.
3. Ability to speak Spanish, Chinese, Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset
4. Valid First Aid/CPR or proof of registration to obtain.
5. Current tuberculosis test (within last 60 days)
6. Knowledge of current trends and research concerning child growth and development patterns and learning theories.
7. Ability to work effectively in a multiethnic setting to meet the needs of the community.
8. Ability to lift and carry an infant and/or toddler.
9. An employee in this job classification may be required to transport him or herself, and possibly others, to and from different work sites. As such, the successful candidate for this job classification may be required to furnish proof that the candidate is able to perform this essential job function, with or without reasonable accommodation, when and if a job offer is made to the candidate. Proof may include, but may not be limited to, a valid California driver license. Reasonable accommodation will be discussed on a case by case basis. 
10. Selected candidate must receive livescan clearances through the Department of Social Services for Community Care Licensing.   

Work Year And Salary:

10 months, various days, various hours, various locations
$170.00 per day (8 hour shift) and $21.00 an hour for less than an 8 hour shift;
$185.00 per day (8 hour shift) and $23.00 an hour for less than an 8 hour shift for long-term assignments.
