Assists with the implementation of goals and objectives for the Teen Wellness Program. Supports CAPSLO’s mission by providing assistance to health programs for local teens.
Required Education and Experience:
Wellness Health Educator I:
- BA/BS degree in Social Science, Family Studies, Child Development, Health Education, Health Sciences, Psychology, or related field.
- Experience working with adolescents preferred.
- Experience in providing health education and public speaking preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience in providing health education and public speaking preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Assists with the implementation of the goals and objectives for the Teen Wellness Programs.
- Recruits and encourages students to participate in Teen Wellness activities and services.
- Conducts wellness education for youth aged 13 to 18 in high school, middle school, and community settings. Topics may include and are not limited to reproductive health, mindfulness, nutrition, and/or physical activity.
- Provides one-on-one health coaching to guide and support youth in achieving healthier lifestyles.
- Discusses availability of free, confidential, teen-friendly FPACT services and provides referrals to other community resources, as appropriate.
- Engages youth in program planning and implementation through the facilitation of school-based clubs and/or community work groups.
- Collects and enters data in Client Track; maintains accurate records, and assists supervisor in compiling data for reports.
- Establishes relationships with community members, school staff, local businesses, volunteers, and the Department staff to assist in coordinating program activities.
- Assists with program marketing, promotion, social media, special projects, and events.
- Attends trainings and researches current and accurate health education information and issues affecting teen health.
- Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices; and act in such a manner as to assure at all times maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, clients and children.
- Performs other duties as needed.
