Under direction of the Program Director will assist in the management of the Head Start, Early Head Start, and State Preschool Programs, in compliance with State Regulations & Federal Performance Standards. Specific duties, the Assistant Director will direct department operations and services, collaborate with school districts, SELPAs to ensure quality early childhood programs; and oversee and ensure compliance with state, federal, and local grants related to early education services. Will provide leadership, supervise, and evaluate assigned Early Education management and support staff, primarily managed through subordinate staff and coordinated with MAAC administration. Will assist with the administrative management of the Head Start, State and local programs such as QPI, and may include, but are not limited to, budget, fiscal and organizational analysis, contract and grant writing, submission and administration, program governance and management systems, resource development, operations supervision, personnel management and other administrative duties.
- BA/BS in Child Development, or a related discipline; MA with emphasis in Child Development, Program Administration or a closely related field is highly desirable.
- Five (5) years of experience in the administration of program management of birth to age 5 early learning center-based sites/programs, with at least three (3) years in a direct site staff supervisory capacity.
- Experience with Head Start, and/or a similar type of program experience, is highly desirable.
- Preference for candidates who are fluent in Spanish and who have demonstrated the ability to successfully build relationships regardless of identity or socio-economic status.
