Job Title: Children's Center Manager

 

Reports to: Director of Early Education

 

Department: Children & Family Services (CFS)

 

FLSA Classification: Exempt

 

Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Early Education, the Site or Area Manager is responsible for the overall operation of one or more centers as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, California Department of Education, and California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division.

The Site or Area Manager provides leadership and guidance and is responsible for the planning, organizing, and implementation of the care. This includes all aspects of the day-to-day operations at a site, including supervision, curriculum, record keeping, and implementation of program performance standards, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; following the agency's progressive discipline procedure; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

 

  • BA Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Development, Sociology, or a related field or a valid California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Site Supervisor permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Additional Units: 3 ECE units in administration/ or adult supervision, 3 ECE units in infant/toddler development desirable.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • At least two (2) years of classroom experience working with groups of children under age 5.
  • Proficient computer skills. Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom, proficiency required.
  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. It May be required for particular site locations
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Community Care Licensing regulations
  • Current CPR and first aid.
  • Experience with CA Department of Education assessment tools, including but not limited to DRDP, ERS, CLASS assessment, and QRIS.
  • Expertise in ECERS/ITERS and developing quality early learning environments
  • CLASS Pre-K and/or Toddler reliability
  • Deep understanding and ability to articulate the role equity, inclusion, and diversity play in our work.
  • Successfully complete an employment physical and provide proof of the absence of Tuberculosis.
  • Must currently have or obtain a Criminal Record Clearance.
  • Physical agility to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds and children up to 40 pounds for safety reasons.
  • Physical agility to bend, stoop, walk, reach overhead, push, pull, squat, twist, kneel, and turn.
  • Fine Motor physical ability to grasp, pull, twist, and grip.
  • A valid California drivers license.
  • Evidence of reliable insured transportation and acceptable driving record.
