Position Summary:

The Parent Family Community Engagement Coordinator for the Early Education Child Care programs is responsible for the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the Parent Family Community Engagement (PFCE), and the Program Design and Management (PDM) content areas and plans for early education child care programs.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience in social work, human services, family services, or related fields.  

Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience in Family Support and/or Family Strengthening Frameworks is preferred.

Essential Functions:

  1. Works directly with the Director and PFCE manager on the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive Parent Family Community Engagement Program Plan which complies with Head Start Performance standards, State regulations, and includes Policies and Procedures, Service Area Plan, Self-Assessment, Program Improvement Plan, and Community Assessment.
  2. Monitors and maintains accurate and up-to-date data and record-keeping systems and data for all components of the Parent Family Community Engagement Program and Training and Technical Assistance Plan.
  3. Coordinates and collaborates with other programs within the agency to ensure a streamlined parent-focused experience that reduces the burden and engages parents. 
    1. Coordinates and provides training and technical assistance to staff in all service areas (counties) toward integrating Parent Family Community Engagement Program Plan into all EECC program options.
  4. Trains staff in the area of Parent, Family, and Community Engagement 
    1. Provides training and technical assistance to staff:
    2. support the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the Parent Family Community Engagement (PFCE) content area and plan for the EECC programs
    3. Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement the Family Engagement Program, including Family Engagement groups, Parent / Couples Forums, etc.
  5. Acts as a Social Services liaison between community agencies and programs, establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with public and private agencies in order to ensure the availability of resources to meet the needs of children and families. 
  6. Trains staff in all programs, in the area of Program Design and Management
    1. Provides training, technical assistance, and oversight to staff informing, planning, and training local Parent Committees, County Parent Committees, Parent Advisory Committees (PAC), and Policy Council (PC) to ensure an effective shared Governance model is established and maintained.
  7. Establishes and maintains a shared Governance model:
    1. Coordinates and provides annual training and technical assistance to Parent Representatives and Alternates to develop and maintain a shared Governance model, HS/EHS, MSHS Policy Council.
    2. Works with Directors, Area Managers, and program staff to ensure that parents are engaged and actively participate in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and decision-making responsibilities for the PAC and PC.
  8. Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect
    1. Ensures all staff receives annual training and information on child abuse and neglect reporting laws and understands the role of a Mandated Reporter in preventing child abuse and neglect, substance abuse, and domestic violence.
    2. Ensures parents receive information on child abuse and neglect reporting laws and provide resource information on preventing child abuse, substance abuse and domestic violence.
  9. Acts as the lead in all Pre-Service Training, Program Information Report (PIR), and Program Self-Assessment/Program Self Evaluation reporting.
