The Development Associate plays a vital role in advancing the fundraising and communications goals of Wu Yee Children’s Services. This position is responsible for managing and optimizing donor data systems, with a strong emphasis on the use of Salesforce CRM. The Development Associate will ensure accurate donor tracking, generate reports to inform strategy, and support stewardship efforts through integrated platforms including Stripe and GiveLively. In addition to data management, the role supports special events, donor communications, grant tracking, and content development across digital platforms. This role requires a high degree of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. Strong writing and communication skills, as well as a commitment to the organization’s mission, are essential.

Location: 1435 Stockton Street, San Francisco

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday. Some evenings and weekends required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  •        Associate degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  •        Demonstrated experience managing donor data and working with constituent relationship management (CRM) systems, preferably Salesforce.
  •        2–3 years of experience in nonprofit development, communications, or event coordination..
  •       Strong understanding of data management best practices, including segmentation, donor tracking, and reporting
  •        Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  •        Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.m
  •        Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.

Responsibilties:

Donor Data Management, Reporting, and Grant Tracking

  • Maintain and update the donor database (Salesforce) to ensure accurate, timely, and complete donor records.
  • Track donor contributions and communications to support stewardship and engagement efforts.
  • Generate and analyze regular development reports, including campaign progress, donor retention, and giving trends.
  • Support gift processing and ensure timely acknowledgment of donations, including through platforms such as Stripe and GiveLively.
  • Assist with data hygiene practices and duplicate record resolution to maintain data integrity.
  • Identify trends and insights through Salesforce reporting to inform development strategy and donor engagement plans.
  • Collaborate with the Development Director to support segmentation and donor journey mapping based on data analytics.
  • Support grant tracking by maintaining accurate records of submission deadlines, reporting requirements, and funder communications within Salesforce and other relevant systems.

Special Events

  • Participate in event committee meetings including preparation of agendas
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and partners to ensure event success.
  • Work with event coordinator to reate printed and online event materials such as invitations, programs, flyers, registration pages, etc., and coordinate printing and delivery.
  • Coordinate mailings to solicit attendees as well as auction, raffle, and in-kind donations.

Communications

  •        Draft and suggest content for social media platforms, websites, and newsletters to ensure content is up to date and relevant.
  •        Create “events” on social media to promote our events and encourage people to participate through peer-to-peer fundraising.
  •        Evaluate new social media opportunities and provide recommendations to the Development team.
  •        Work with members of staff to identify story ideas and cases for support.

3rd Party Events

  • Review all 3rd Party Event Proposals, cultivate relationships with all fundraisers, provide a tour of Centers, attend 3rd party fundraising events as requested.

Other Duties

  • Ensure organization meets Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) standards.
  • Attend and minute Philanthropy and Communications Committee meetings.
  • Facilitate the New Donor Cultivation Plan, provide new donor contact information to Board of Directors, collect feedback, update donor records in Salesforce.
  • Maintain archive of all printed materials, giveaways, press clippings, and other relevant items.
  • Assume other duties as directed.
